About the Job

Worldwide Protective Services has an opening for a Fire Protection Technician. In this position, the candidate will perform diverse technical duties associated with emergency response activities utilizing all applicable TI, local, state and federal standards, regulations and procedures. This position provides coordination of fire system inspection, testing and maintenance for Manufacturing buildings in North Texas. Additionally, the position will coordinate program management for cutting/welding, fire extinguishers and fire suppression system impairments in support to Facilities and MAKE customers. The individual will perform activities including weekly walkthrough’s, area inspections, preventative maintenance on equipment, job scheduling and coordination with contract oversight for fire protection contractors. The individual should work with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.

Candidates must be able to pass the Hazmat physical as outlined by TI Medical and the WWPS Physical Performance test before wearing any personal protective equipment. Tasks performed during a response may include wearing of personal protective equipment, bending, squatting, climbing ladders or stairs, working in confined spaces, moving chemical containers and performing patient removal from an area. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Services include, but not limited to:

Sustaining Role:

  1. Cutting / Welding Hot Work Permit; training, issuance

  2. Fire Extinguisher; specification, layout, inspection, maintenance, inventory tracking, emergency response, signage, annual inspection

  3. Fire Alarm System; Simplex / FireWorks knowledge and specification adherence

  4. Fire Pump Testing support

  5. Fire Sprinkler; work permit, alarm testing, inspection, testing and maintenance and cost estimates and contractor mgmt., field surveys, impairment, troubleshooting

  6. Fire Protection Coordinator backup

  7. Execution of WWPS Policy Deployment Objectives

  8. Monthly Preventative Maintenance tasks outlined in FMS

  9. Support evacuations and annual drills

Fire Prevention:

  1. Safety Incident prevention pre-planning

  2. Building / Site interruption prevention pre-planning

  3. System / Organization 5S

  4. Perform Proactive Prevention Inspections to identify accident / injury / interruption potential conditions, close-the-loop / follow-up STARS tickets or Action Items/Task Manager system records.

  5. Coordinate system component preventative maintenance recommendations with assigned building / site / program system owners.

Response Activities:

  1. Provide 5-minute response for all SCC-dispatched and paged emergency situations within the wafer Fabs.

  2. Response and safe mitigation of all system incidents as directed by assigned building / site / program system owners / Emergency Services leadership.

  3. Potential for 24 hour callout responses.

  4. Potential to obtain an ECA Basic Life Support / First Aid (BLS)

  5. Participation on the TI Rescue Team

  6. Potential Participation as a BC / DC / ERC Backup

Minimum requirements

Qualified candidates will have a HS diploma with a minimum of 2 years related experience. Prefer candidates with Associates degree or higher in a Fire Protection related discipline. Prefer candidates with experience in performing fire system inspection, testing and maintenance activities.
